Dogs are welcome between 1 May and 31 August. PRIOR APPROVAL is required, and you must comply with our Pet Policy.
To protect nesting birds, including the highly endangered Tara Iti (Fairy Tern) and other wildlife at Pākiri, dogs are not permitted in the estuary, dunes, foreshore, or the beach. Department of Conservation (DoC) rangers have the power to seize any animals they find in these areas.
Dog owners must notify reception that they have a dog on site. It is the responsibility of the owners to ensure the safety and supervision of their dog at all times.
A $50 bond is required for dogs, which will be refunded unless the terms of this policy are breached.
Dogs are only permitted on the allocated site and must not be taken to communal areas, camp facilities, or accommodation.
Dogs must be registered and vaccinated.
Dogs must be friendly, quiet, and not disturb others.
Dogs must be tied up within your allocated site or on a lead at all times. Wandering dogs and their owners will be asked to leave the park.
Owners must clean up after their dogs immediately and use the allocated bins.
