Water
Our location means we are not on town supply for fresh water or wastewater treatment. We gather and sanitise all water available in the park through our water treatment plant. We also run a separate treatment plant for all wastewaters. Our treatment plants are inspected regularly by Auckland Council to ensure they are performing to New Zealand drinking water standards. We ask that you consider this when using our facilities and conserve water whenever you can.
All tap water is safe to drink. Treated artesian water taps are located around the park and in accommodation units. Filtered rainwater is available in the camp kitchen, and elsewhere around the park indicated by blue dots on the park map.
Because of the cost of running our own water treatment plant and, to minimise waste of a precious resource, our showers in shared facilities require 50c coins for 5 minutes of hot water. Coins are available from the shop. Cold showers are free.
Please conserve water whenever possible.
Balloons
We ask that you do not use balloons or water at the park as birds mistake these as food.
Wi-Fi
Because of our rural location, our internet connection is wireless via the Rural Broadband. As a result, we don’t have the huge advantage of fibre that you probably have at home so, you are unlikely to experience the same capacity and speeds that you get at home. This is especially true at Pākiri if you are using multiple devices simultaneously and jumping onto Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, social media sites, Dropbox, playing games, torrenting files or downloading application updates.
Please be aware that our internet access is also often impaired by weather and other events outside our control. Wi-Fi is not available outside the park boundaries.
We recommend you download updates, movies, your favourite TV series and even your Spotify library onto memory sticks at home and bring those with you to plug into your device or our smart TVs to ensure a better experience. Remember, our biggest demand is when the park is full, and everyone wants to get online. You can purchase Wi-Fi online or from our shop. For support call 0800 HQ Wi-Fi.
Feedback
Please let us know if there is any way we can help make your stay more enjoyable.
We also encourage you to send feedback in our after-departure survey and stay in touch with us through Facebook, or Instagram.
